How to Create or Import a Wallet

Wire Wallet gives you two ways to get started

Wire Wallet gives you two ways to get started:

  1. Create a new wallet (generates a new recovery phrase)

  2. Import an existing wallet (using your recovery phrase)

Both options keep you fully in control. Wire Wallet never stores your keys, recovery phrase, or private information.

Option 1: Create a New Wallet

Follow these steps to generate a brand-new non-custodial wallet:

1. Open Wire Wallet and tap Create Wallet

This starts the secure wallet creation process.

2. Agree to the security notice

We’ll remind you that:

  • Wire Wallet is non-custodial

  • Only you can recover your wallet

  • We can’t reset or restore your recovery phrase

3. Securely back up your recovery phrase

You’ll be shown a 12- or 24-word recovery phrase.
This phrase is the only way to recover your wallet if your device is lost.

Important:

  • Write it down on paper

  • Store it in a secure location

  • Never share it with anyone

  • Do not store screenshots or cloud backups unless encrypted

4. Confirm your recovery phrase

To ensure you backed it up correctly, you’ll be asked to verify the phrase.

5. Your new wallet is ready

You can now:

  • Receive assets

  • Send crypto

  • Swap tokens

  • Stake with supported providers

  • Join communities (optional)

Option 2: Import an Existing Wallet

If you already have a wallet from another app, you can import it into Wire Wallet.

1. Tap Import Wallet

Located on the onboarding screen.

2. Enter your recovery phrase

Wire Wallet supports standard 12-, 18-, and 24-word BIP39 phrases from most major wallets.

3. Verify the networks you want to load

Wire Wallet will scan your phrase and load supported accounts across networks like:

  • Solana

  • Ethereum

  • Additional L1s are added regularly

4. Complete setup

Once imported, your balances and activity will appear automatically.

Do I Need to Create an App Account?

No.
Wire Wallet works fully without a user account.

You only need an optional app account if you want to enable:

  • Social/community features

  • Rewards & badges

  • Cross-device syncing

  • Messaging or notifications

Even with an account, your wallet stays fully non-custodial.

Security Reminders

  • We will never ask for your recovery phrase.

  • Support cannot recover it if lost.

  • Anyone with your phrase has full access to your assets.

Your recovery phrase = your wallet.
